Kalapatar
- which means black rock,
is barely 5 kms from the
Everest BC and is 6645 m
above sea level. This trek
leads through Sherpa country
with some of the highest
cultivated areas in the
world. Especially around
the village of Dingboche
many Yaks are to be seen.

Itinerary |
|
Day
01 : Namche Bazar (3440
m) - The trek passes through
Benker and Jorsale. It takes
about 6 h to reach the main
village of Khumbu.
Day 02 : The trail leads
through rhododendron forest
to the monastery Tengboche.
This gompa lies at the foot
of the mighty Kangtega and
offers magnificent views
of Everest, Lhotse, Ama
Dablam, Thamserku, Tawoche
and Khumbila. Trek time
is 6 h.
Day 03 : Dingboche (4343
m) - Descend from Tengboche
and cross Imjha Kola to
reach Pangboche - spectacular
views all around. Proceed
to Dingboche. The total
time taken is 5 h.
Day 04 : Lobuche (4930 m)
- After 5 h trek, reach
Lobuche. Camp site at Lobuche
is a meadow between the
glacier and the Lobuche
Preak (6145 m). Tawoche
(6542 m) and Nuptse (7879
m) tower above.
Day 05 : On this day, the
trek involves going to and
returning from Kala Patar
(5545 m). An early start
is necessary. The trail
leads along the Khumbu glacier
through mases of rocks.
scend Kala Patar for a panoramic
view of Pumori (7161 m),
Everest (8848 m), the Tibetan
ChangTse (7501 m) and many
other peaks.
Day
06 : Pheriche - Descend
all the wy to Pheriche.
Day 07 : Fly out to Kathmandu
in the morning.
