Country: India / Ladakh

Description

This is a challenging trek traversing the Ladakh Mountains on a little trekked  and unspoiled route through wild and rugged high altitude scenery

The Stok Kangri is the dominant peak on the skyline. We spend a couple of days in and around Leh acclimatizing and visiting the major monasteries in the area.  Our route takes us westwards over one high pass after the other passing through hidden valleys and remote villages seldom visited by foreigners. At one point we follow the raging Zanskar river before crossing the before crossing the Kang la pass where we can ascend the easy slopes of palm peak as a warm up for Stok Kangri. A few more passes bring us to our base camp from where we climb Stok Kangri. The views from the summit are breathtaking as we look north to the Karakourms and south to the Himalayas.
